Beautiful Kashmir

A land of unmatched scenic beauty and rich culture, Kashmir truly is a ‘Heaven on Earth’. The state of Jammu and Kashmir shows a rich diversity in its landscape as people move from the south to the north. Low hills in the south, snow-capped peaks and velvety valleys in the centre and a barren, yet enchanting realm in the extreme north make up the state’s geography. To explore these varied landforms and more, buy Kashmir tour packages from Yatra. The state can be easily reached via road, rail and air from all parts of the country, leading to easy access. One of its top tourist destinations is its capital, Srinagar. Here, people can visit Dal Lake, take a ride on shikaras, stay in a peaceful houseboat and relax in lakeside Mughal gardens like Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashma Shahi. The cuisine of the state is fragrant and full of spices, with dishes like Gushtaba, Dum Aloo, Rogan Josh, Yakhni and the famous tea, Kahwa, being the favourites. While in the city with Kashmir holiday packages, travellers can buy exquisite hand-woven rugs and carpets, and the globally renowned Pashmina shawls. The valley of Kashmir is surrounded by splendid hill stations like Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, where adventure sports like skiing can be relished in winters.

Another popular thrilling activity to undertake in the state is trekking to spellbinding lakes, peaks and valleys. Family tours to Jammu and Kashmir can be made better by going on a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi and Amarnath – two of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. Kashmir also provides countless opportunities for white water river rafting, strenuous mountaineering, bike tours and off-road cycling. Located to the north of the Kashmir Valley, the desert plateau of Ladakh is a world of its own. The centre of Himalayan Buddhism in the country, the region houses numerous monasteries like those of Hemis, Shey, Likir, Alchi, Lamayuru and Diskit. Its administrative centre, Leh has inviting tourist attractions like Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and Hall of Fame. Visiting natural wonders like Pangong Tso, Tso Kar and Tso Moriri with Kashmir honeymoon packages is an ideal way to spend the first few days together.
